Welcome Brooke Riddick To The Camp Opportunity Team
We’re excited to welcome Brooke Riddick to the Camp Opportunity team as our new Camper Care Coordinator! Brooke holds a B.S. in Psychology from Morgan State University and is currently pursuing her Masters of Social Work at Morgan State currently.
With certifications in both the Foundation of Leadership and Executive Leadership through the National Society of Leadership and Success, Brooke brings both heart and expertise to her work.
She is deeply passionate about transforming the environments and circumstances that impact youth, and she’s inspired by the powerful impact Camp Opportunity has on the lives of so many children. Read more about Brooke below.
Why Camp Opportunity?
“I am very passionate about changing the environmental and circumstances our youth go through, and seeing what Camp Opportunity does for so many children makes me believe that I can learn so much from the organization and add to it with what I've learned through my studies. I never knew such an organization existed and I am really excited to work with others who share the same passion as me.”
As Camper Care Coordinator, Brooke will be screening applications for both returning and new campers. She will collaborate closely with the Camper Care Specialist on campus to enforce a trauma-informed approach to our Journey curriculum, where Brooke will co-lead sessions designed to promote camper wellbeing, foster emotional resilience, and encourage personal growth.
“I am looking forward to working with the staff and the campers, getting to know them, and completing activities with them that will improve their growth. I am also looking forward to seeing first hand how the program works and applying what I've learned in my studies.”
After obtaining her Masters in Social Work, Brooke hopes to establish a non-profit center for troubled and at-risk youth where there are tutors on site as well as life coaches, social workers, and activities for the youth to engage in after school.
